Mike Pedersen

Chair of the Board 

Mr. Pedersen brings more than 35 years of leadership in global financial services, with a proven record of providing governance and strategy oversight through periods of impactful growth and transformation. Most recently, he served as Chair of the Board at Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) from 2018 to 2023.  Mr. Pedersen has a distinguished career in banking, holding leadership positions across consumer and commercial banking, wealth management and insurance, ultimately serving as President and CEO of TD Bank Group’s U.S. banking business from 2013 to 2017.  

Based in Toronto, Mr. Pedersen currently serves on the boards of CGI, AtkinsRéalis and Clean Prosperity. Additionally, he is Chair of the Advisory Committee for the Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation at the University of Waterloo, and is a member of the Sustainable Finance Advisory Committee at the Global Risk Institute. He is also a past Chair of the Canadian Bankers Association.  

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of British Columbia and a Master of Industrial Relations from the University of Toronto. Mr. Pedersen maintains an active presence in his community and has a long history of involvement in organizations dedicated to environmental sustainability and urban poverty.
